Purpose

The service project is a part of the Sacramento Community Climate Action Day. Community Climate Action Days are an opportunity to work on projects protecting our communities against the harshest impacts of climate change while improving our quality of life and access to green spaces. These service days combine the forces of the California Service Corps, local community partners, leaders, nonprofits, elected officials and hundreds of volunteers in a powerful day of service. All volunteers will join the Climate Action Counts campaign to stay connected on future opportunities to stay engaged in this important work. This opportunity is made possible through partnerships at the state and local level, including: California Climate Action Corps, a program of California Volunteers, and Keep California Beautiful.

Role

Volunteers will learn about local stewardship practices, including adaptive management approaches and the cultural resources connected to this landscape, while completing hands-on work removing invasive plant species to support habitat health and resilience.
