Planting and Mulching at CapRadio Garden
Volunteers may choose between two projects on the Sacramento State University campus. Join Sacramento State, California Volunteers, California Climate Action Corps, and Keep California Beautiful for either a Climate Action Counts workshop, where volunteers will learn more about the campaign that is uniting Californians statewide through individual actions. The second project on campus involves native planting and mulching at the CapRadio Garden. Volunteers will support this community resource while taking part in the Community Climate Action Day Sacramento, connecting multiple service projects across the city. Snacks and refreshments will be provided. All tools and supplies will be provided. Gloves will be provided, but volunteers are encouraged to bring reusable gloves if possible. Please dress for the weather, wear closed-toe shoes, and bring a reusable water bottle. Purpose
The service project is a part of the Sacramento Community Climate Action Day. Community Climate Action Days are an opportunity to work on projects protecting our communities against the harshest impacts of climate change while improving our quality of life and access to green spaces. These service days combine the forces of the California Service Corps, local community partners, leaders, nonprofits, elected officials and hundreds of volunteers in a powerful day of service. All volunteers will join the Climate Action Counts campaign to stay connected on future opportunities to stay engaged in this important work. This opportunity is made possible through partnerships at the state and local level, including: California Climate Action Corps, a program of California Volunteers, Keep California Beautiful, and Sacramento State.
Role
Volunteers will plant native species and spread mulch to support community garden maintenance.
