The California Vegetation Treatment Program Draft Programmatic Environmental Impact Report (Cal VTP) is a statewide program proposed by the Board of Forestry and Fire Protection which is intended to increase efficiency in the CEQA analysis that is required to implement projects focused to reduce fuels and improve wildfire resiliency on non-federal lands located within the State Responsibility Area. It is now available for a 45-day public review and comment until August 9, 2019.
The Cal VTP offers simplified permitting for 3 types of fuel treatments:
- Wildland Urban Interface Fuel Reduction
- Fuel Breaks
- Ecological Restoration
Comments on the draft document must be submitted by this Friday, August 9, 2019 to: CalVTP@bof.ca.gov. The Cal VTP is available for download from the Board’s website: https://bofdata.fire.ca.gov/projects-and-programs/calvtp/.
