Laura Blaul

Laura Blaul is a Senior Wildfire Fellow with the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) where she leads collaborative efforts to advance wildfire resilience through strategic partnerships, applied research and community engagement. She is also and a retired fire service executive with over 30 years of experience protecting communities and advancing safety, rising through the ranks of the Orange County Fire Authority from Paid Call Firefighter to Assistant Chief and Fire Marshal. In that role, she established the Pre-Fire Management Section to lead wildfire prevention and mitigation and co-developed the “Ready, Set, Go!” program, now a national model for wildfire preparedness. Laura also teaches special education and creates hands-on fire and life safety workshops, believing resilience is rooted in science, strengthened by preparation, and sustained through community connection.
