In Remembrance of the Granite Mountain Interagency Hotshot Crew

California Fire Safe Council Staff and Board members offer their sincere condolences to the families of the 19 members of the Granite Mountain Interagency Hotshot Crew that lost their lives Sunday, June 30th, while battling the 2,000-acre Yarnell Hill fire that ignited Friday south of Prescott.

When wildfires threaten lives and communities, brave firefighters like these  face some of the most unpredictable and dangerous conditions that mother nature has to offer.

Those of us who work closely with wildland firefighters, especially local fire safe councils,  admire firefighters’ commitment to protecting and preventing forests and communities from the potential devastation that results from wildfires.
