SUMMARY:Planting and Mulching at Ninos Community Garden
DESCRIPTION:Description \nJoin Sacramento City Vice Mayor Karina Talamantes\, Sacramento Youth Parks and Community Enrichment VIP Program\, California Volunteers\, California Climate Action Corps\, and Keep California Beautiful for a native planting and mulching event at Ninos Community Garden. Volunteers will support this community resource while taking part in the Community Climate Action Day Sacramento\, connecting multiple service projects across the city. Snacks and refreshments will be provided. All tools and supplies will be provided. Disposable gloves will be provided\, but volunteers are encouraged to bring reusable gloves if possible. Please dress for the weather\, wear closed-toe shoes\, and bring a reusable water bottle. \nPlease see below for a more detailed schedule of the day: \n\n9:00am -9:30am: Volunteer check-in\n9:30am – 10:00am: Welcome and speaker series\n10:00am – 12:00pm: Native species planting and mulching service project at Ninos Community Garden\n12:00pm – 1:00pm: FREE Lunch for all volunteers\n\nPurpose \nThe service project is a part of the Sacramento Community Climate Action Day. Community Climate Action Days are an opportunity to work on projects protecting our communities against the harshest impacts of climate change while improving our quality of life and access to green spaces. These service days combine the forces of the California Service Corps\, local community partners\, leaders\, nonprofits\, elected officials and hundreds of volunteers in a powerful day of service. All volunteers will join the Climate Action Counts campaign to stay connected on future opportunities to stay engaged in this important work.
