SUMMARY:Placer PBA Rx Fire 101 workshop series - Colfax
DESCRIPTION:Rx FIRE 101 WORKSHOP: Colfax April 1 \nPlacer Prescribed Burn Association (Placer PBA) was founded by the Placer Resource Conservation District. Placer PBA is dedicated to equipping landowners with the knowledge\, skills\, and confidence to implement low-complexity prescribed burns. This workshop is free of charge and will cover topics including permitting\, liability\, fire effects on native plants\, heat management\, landowner resources\, and others. A panel of experienced instructors teach the course. This is a classroom workshop and no live fire will be used\, however\, training burns will be offered throughout the season so that landowners gain on-the-ground experience. \nDate: Saturday\, April 1 \nTime: 0800 – 1630 \nLocation: Colfax Elementary School\, 24825 Ben Taylor Rd.\, Colfax \nCost: FREE \nDescription: The Placer PBA Rx Fire 101 workshop series are tailored to private landowners hoping to implement prescribed burns on their property. Topics that are covered include permitting\, liability\, basics of fire\, heat management\, cultural burning\, and unit prep and mitigation. It is nearly impossible to learn how to implement prescribed burns through the classroom\, which is why Placer PBA pairs all of their workshops with demonstration burns to give landowners opportunities for boots on the ground experience. SUMMARY:Wildfire Safety Expo\, Fairfield
DESCRIPTION:  \nGreen Valley and Pleasants Valley Fire Safe Councils and partnering organizations are organizing a Wildfire Safety Expo set for April 15\, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.\, at Solano Community College. \nAttendees can talk to local firefighters and other experts about fire prevention\, creating defensible space\, evacuation plans\, and home hardening. Activities planned include fire extinguisher demonstrations\, hands-only CPR lessons\, interactive programs with Red Cross\, disaster preparedness information\, music\, and food trucks. Children will be able to handle hoses in a Wildland Fire Progressive Hose Lay Demonstration. There also will be an inflatable fire house\, and a visit from Smokey Bear \nVendor and sponsorship opportunities are still available.
